Anemanthele lessoniana

from £5.90

An exceptional grass, deserving of a spot in almost all gardens. Clumps of fine green foliage, developing tints of copper, orange and bronze. The pinkish purple seedheads formed in late summer produce an attractive hazy effect, and cause the plant to arch over gracefully. Remaining evergreen to semi-evergreen, the plants can look glorious backlit in the low warm light of autumn and early winter.

Anemanthele will grow well in sun to part-shade, and is quite drought tolerant too.

After 3 years plants will begin to look a little tatty. However, Anemanthele will self-seed, so simply allow some younger seedlings to grow as replacements, and pull out the original plant by hand.

syn. Stipa arundinacea

Full sun/part-shade. Most soil types. Drought tolerant once established.

Height: 60cm - 80cm
Width: 60cm - 80cm
