A quite special Artemisia, fairly new to us and rarely found for sale. Said to originate from dry coastal areas of Japan. Upright stems, with attractive green silver leaves. A fantastic foliage plant, which goes on to produce small flowers in late summer/early autumn.
Our recommendations with this plant are to give it a year or two to bed into your garden and grow in size. We were not particularly impressed with it in year 1, but fell in love with it in year 2. Other friends in the gardening world have reported the same. We would also suggest a ‘Chelsea chop’ in late May, reducing the stems by a third. This prevents it from becoming overly tall and flopping on its neighbours later in the season.
We first obtained this plant from Wildegoose Nursery in Shropshire, and their plants came originally from Jimi Blake of Huntingbrook Gardens, Ireland.
Full sun / part-shade. Most soil types.
Height: 80cm - 120cm
Width: 60cm - 100cm
