An uncommon, miniature, evergreen perennial for shade. Slightly hirsute, lobed green leaves, and delicate spikes of tiny yellow green flowers in spring/early summer. These spikes continue to look attractive as they form dainty cups bearing the seed. Native to the western USA.
In her book Ground Cover Plants, the late Margery Fish writes that she liked to use Mitella breweri to provide useful groundcover on the steep banks of her famous ditch at East Lambrook Manor in Somerset.
